Everything Feels Urgent, and I Can’t Think Straight

What it feels like
You can’t think clearly. You reread the same message and still aren’t sure what it says. Small decisions feel bigger than they should. You jump between tasks but do not finish much. You might feel on edge, or snap at things that would not normally bother you.

It can feel like everything is equally important. Your to-do list stops being helpful and starts to feel like pressure.

Why this happens
When you are under pressure, your brain shifts into quick-fire mode. It is trying to help you get through. The trade off is that you lose some of your ability to slow down and sort what matters from what does not.

Over time, this can turn into a habit. You start to treat everything as urgent because that is what your system has got used to doing.

Practical Pause
Draw a quick Eisenhower Matrix (Urgent/Not Urgent, Important/Not Important). Move just one task out of the urgent box today.

Ask yourself...
Who or what taught me that everything has to be dealt with immediately?
